Why Shelve the Hate?
Students of Ohio Dominican University’s PRSSA chapter have teamed up to create a new toolkit and campaign to fight against targeted gun violence and online extremism in schools and universities. As part of the national competition for Invent2Prevent sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security, Shelve the Hate is a program centered around libraries to increase community unity and educate on warning signs and reporting of potential targeted attacks and online extremism.
Invent2Prevent Spring 2024
Against the fierce competition, Shelve the Hate has received 3rd place standing for the National Invent2Prevent competition in Washington DC. Out of 25 other universities, a testament to the team's creativity, hard work, and dedication. The experience not only validated our mission but also provided an incredible platform to inspire others across the country to take a stand against hate. The Shelve the Hate team continues to build on this success, using the momentum from its national recognition to expand its reach and impact. This accomplishment reflects the power of student-led initiatives in making meaningful change and driving the conversation forward in the fight against online extremism and targeted violence.
